Kelli and Ashley met, while pursuing their Master's Degrees
in Opera and Vocal Performance, back stage during a theater production. They discovered that they worked well as a team and shared many abilities to pull off great productions. At the same time, Ashley was designing florals and planning weddings and events for a flower shop. When a position became available at the same shop, Kelli came on board and her attention to detail, creativity and exquisite taste quickly made her the shop’s top designer.
Working together, Ashley and Kelli developed a subtle balance between organization and execution. To tackle anything a client wanted or could even dream up was always an exciting challenge ending with flawless results.
As is common in most business relationships, it eventually became time to separate ways with the shop they had worked many years for. Upon Kelli and Ashley's leaving, they received many
requests from former clients to continue working in the industry. After much discussion and an evaluation of life goals and dreams, Red Door Event & Design, LLC was born.
Red Door Event & Design focuses on event production, as this is a need that is not easily satiated in the Midwest. It isn’t as simple as just doing the flowers or being an event planner, their work encompasses every aspect of an event and the client. From their years of experience in the industry they knew that clients were seeking out a service that could help them with their events from beginning to end. Clients were looking for more options when it came to all aspects of the dècor for an event. With the explosion of the information age, many clients have been exposed to the international and multi cultural vision of events and have struggled mightily to be able to recreate that vision with their own events in their hometowns. Access to many things such as fine linens, unique containers, production lighting, chevari chairs, fine quality cuisine was limited and required a great deal of research, time and work to gather information on the client’s part. This amount of work proved to be disheartening and overwhelming to many, and Ashley and Kelli decided that this is where their niche would lie.
Focus on all aspects of the event, not just individually the flowers or the food, allows for the creation of a memorable and happy experience and not just another party that guests are obligated to attend. Each event should be unique as the individuals hosting. Getting to know each client on a personal level allows Red Door Event & Design to make well informed suggestions as to what will best suit each and every need. Overseeing every aspect of the event allows for harmony and flow. All participants in the event walk away having had a personal experience.
